Equal and Fair Treatment For All

As a civil rights attorney who served for eight years on the Board of the Cleveland Legal Aid Society, Betsy is a strong supporter of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights; she also is on the Board of the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, which is the bar association for attorneys who represent victims of employment discrimination.

Betsy has been awarded a YWCA Women of Professional Excellence Award and has published multiple pieces on workplace discrimination including a 2014 article in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Journal. Betsy has also been a speaker for organizations like the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association on the topic of sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement, and has been frequently quoted in the press on the issue of sexual harassment and the importance of companies taking such claims seriously.

Her mission is to ensure that everyone’s rights are respected so that all Ohioans can enjoy the “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” that our nation’s founders intended. Our country’s leaders must always speak with a sure and firm voice against hate and discrimination, and back up those words by dedicating the resources necessary to develop the policies and enforce the laws that guarantee our constitutional rights.

Betsy believes we must…

  • Pass the Ohio Fairness Act that prohibits discrimination against LGBTQ individuals;
  • Address systemic racial discrimination in all aspects of society;
  • Secure equal pay for equal work;
  • Allow women to make their own healthcare decisions free from government intrusion;
  • Fund our state civil rights enforcement agencies adequately.
